Why our annual service?

0-rings get a flat?
At every knob and dial, underwater cameras have internal o-rings that seal
out water. These o-rings wrap around the control shafts and are pressed into
grooves called o-ring seats. Over the period of a year, these o-rings lose
their elasticity and begin to flatten. As you turn your controls in water,
these flat o-rings are more susceptible to water intrusion. Manufacturers
recommend these o-rings to be replaced once a year. In our annual service,
we install new factory o-rings. We then vacuum test and hydrostatically (in-water) test
the camera to insure the highest quality of workmanship.
Unsightly plaque & tartar?
When the camera is submerged, water penetrates all the way to the o-ring seat.
These areas are difficult to fully rinse and dry slowly. Over time, salt and
other minerals build up in this area. The build up and corrosive action of
dissimilar metals can eat away at the control shafts and seats. This not only
increases build up, but also decreases the sealing surface area. In our thorough
annual service, control shafts are removed from the camera, carefully inspected
and polished to insure a perfect seal. We microscopically inspect the o-ring
seats and will warn you if we see a problem in the making.
Indecent exposure?
Ever feel like your camera's meter is off in left field? Minor corrosion and
loose connections can throw things out of whack. As part of our annual service,
we fully test all electronic systems and calibrate them to factory specs.
To top it off, with each body service, we will inspect and test your lenses
and strobes FREE of charge. Why wait until you are half way around the world
to find that your sync cord is on the fritz? You will receive a certificate
of service which details the results of each test, including shutter speed
accuracy, auto exposure accuracy, TTL-TCXN time, and pressure test bottom
times. Water Damage The costs of water damage repair can be as inexpensive
as an annual service if performed promptly. Please refer to our flood card
for cleaning instructions and rush the damaged item for a free estimate. We
do not charge for refusals and will return refused cameras assembled Oh, by
the way, no lectures either.
