TAKE A BITE OUT OF LIGHTROOM

Even if you've dabbled in Lightroom a bit, there are bound to be little tips and widgets that you skimmed over.

We'll start from the time you climb out of the water and connect your card reader or camera, to sorting, adjusting, and exporting your images for Facebook, your web site, print, or a slideshow.

We'll cover:

The Basics:

What a RAW file *really* is and why you should be shooting in RAW (and, if you already are, tips to keep doing so!)
Getting images from the camera into your computer (there are a NUMBER of ways to do this and we can discuss the various options)

Getting Organized:

Tips on importing files - to backup, or not backup? Card reader or camera?
The good (and bad) of keywording, tagging, ranking.
At LEAST 3 ways to "whittle" down your shots

Exposure, Color, and Composition:

Tonal Adjustments - Getting the most out of the light you captured.
Essentials of color correction (Including "batch" color-correction)
Cropping methods and options - Several crops of the same image
Spot removal - Getting rid of sensor dust, backscatter, other divers, etc.
Multiple variations of a single photograph (vertical and horizontal crops, color and black and white conversions)

Output Options

Slideshows - options for showing locally and distributing to others
Flash and HTML galleries for the web
Customizing print layouts, maximizing paper usage, etc.

Class starts at 9:30am and runs to approximately 3pm, with a break for lunch. It is suggested to bring your laptop computer with Lightroom installed, a few underwater images, and lots of questions for a Q and A at the end of the class.
